The spirit of this neighborhood association, founded in the 1970's, is an inspiration for our city. For more than 40 years this group has been the center of fun for a large section of the Cherry Farm Subdivision. It's a reflection of many characters, not the least of which is its long time president, the late Tom "Prez" Neubauer. Elmhurst resident and super volunteer, Bill Shanklin, shares his experience jumping over Normandy in June, 2019, as a tribute to those who did so on D-Day, 75 years earlier. Shanklin, serving the Army Special Forces in the 1960's, made this most recent jump at the age of 75. PK's friend, Elmhurst History Museum Director Dave Oberg, helps set the record (and railroad tracks) straight on the latest "Once Ponce a Time". Clever Ken helps "Jamie Grizlowski" diagnose a leak behind his toilet, while LowDown food critic, Slappy Sal, shares his experience at the Stray Hen.

Mystery Writer Bob Goldsborough 'Framed' by the LowDown Crew

With a great education at York Community High School, Bob Goldsborough went on to have an exciting career as a "Newsman" at the Chicago Tribune and Advertising Age magazine. As a loving gesture to his mother, Goldsborough wrote her a personal Nero Wolfe mystery novel, shortly after Nero Wolfe creator Rex Stout's death. Little did Goldsborough know he had sparked a second career as a mystery novel author and his thoughtful gift to his mother would eventually be published with the blessing of Stout's family. He would go on to pen six more Nero Wolfe novels and his own series of mysteries featuring news reporter sleuth, Snap Malek. Bob bravely takes on the MowDown and receives a passing grade of 85%! Goldsborough continues to write and looks forward to his next novel being published in 2020.
